On this week’s episode, Tristan (they/them) and Lauren (she/her) interview Rebby Kern (they/them), a badass yoga teacher, cofounder of the Trans Yoga Project, and social justice warrior. Rebby was incredibly generous in having this conversation with us, especially as they navigate recent loss and the near-constant harm that trans* and nonbinary folks deal with every day.

Rebby is super skilled in centering connection in all of their work, whether it’s creating trans* and queer-affirming wellness spaces through the Trans Yoga Project, shaking shit up in corporate America in their role as a lululemon ambassador, or serving as the Education Policy Director for Equality NC.

Tune in to hear about…

  • Rebby’s journey of unpacking their identities

  • The role that yoga and recovery have played in their healing

  • Creating spaces for trans* and queer people to call home

  • Having a “seat at the table” while also flipping the whole damn table over

  • How they deal with getting misgendered and seek support when harm happens

  • Navigating their dad’s passing and finding their birth mom

  • And more.

P.S. You may have been following on social media as Tristan worked alongside other trans* and non-binary folks over the last two weeks to hold harm-doers accountable for giving transphobia a platform. We recorded this episode with Rebby prior to the recent events, which continue to unfold -- and frankly, this conversation couldn’t be more relevant.

We might share more soon about what Tristan’s been up to, but for today, we are so excited to share this conversation with Rebby with you!

We’d also love for you to take a screenshot of where the episode resonates with you and tag us in your Instagram stories at @alltfinpodcast, @rebbykernyoga, @tristankatzcreative, and @laurenkayroberts.

A note on content: Self-care is radical and non-negotiable in the work of justice AND entrepreneurship. Some of these conversations include mention of trauma, both from a systemic and often racialized perspective, and in relationship to experiences like sexual violence. We hope you do what you need to take care of yourself while listening, even if that means pausing and returning to an episode at another time or skipping it altogether.
